The Woolwich Township Democrats Club Executive Board (Executive Board) endorsed Bayly Winder (Mays Landing) as the Democratic nominee in the NJ-02 race. Winder is one of four candidates currently vying for the Democratic nomination in the race to unseat Jeff Van Drew.
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the Woolwich Township Democrats Club,” Winder said. “This is a large and diverse district, and I’m committed to being a Representative who reflects that and shows up for every community.”
The Executive Board went through a deliberative endorsement process, seeking feedback from all the candidates in the form of both written questionnaires and virtual screening interviews as well as feedback from Club members attending the screenings. In a joint statement, the Executive Board said it pursued an endorsement based on its belief that the path to defeating Van Drew runs through Woolwich Township and surrounding Gloucester County communities. Drawing on 2025 election data, the Board emphasized that strong voter turnout in Woolwich will be critical to flipping the R5 district.
“It was a competitive field for our party in NJ-02,” The Executive Board said. “We were impressed with Winder’s time, effort, and commitment to campaigning across the district, from down the shore to our own backyard. We felt that Winder had a developed campaign message and funding strategy that provides our neighbors, friends, and family the best chance to take their district back. We appreciate all the candidates’ candor and flexibility throughout our nomination process. We wish them all the best of luck and support them in the fight to beat Jeff Van Drew.”
This endorsement is the first of its kind from the Woolwich Township Democrats Club. The Executive Board is made up of Chair Marla Curran, Vice Chair Dana Cotton, Treasurer Al Beaver, and Secretary Ethan Stoetzer. With this endorsement they are asking Democrats across NJ-02 to join them in unifying to send a representative to Washington that will defend the Constitution as well as fighting to make everyday life more affordable. They encourage all eligible Democrats to get engaged in the election and most importantly, vote!
